Volunteering for SSA
There are several ways alumni contribute to the School of Social Service Administration. They volunteer their time, talents, and resources to encourage alumni interaction around professional and personal interests. They aid students, connect with faculty experts, and advance the School's mission by building strong professional networks.
Join a committee of the SSA Alumni Association Board of Directors
Networking through the SSA Alumni Association Board supports professional development, career management, student mentoring, and organizing University expertise around alumni interests.
Be a Career Services contact for current students and alumni (Career Services and Professional Development Program)
Opt-in to the Alumni Contact Database so you can help students navigate the job market and network with alumni. Be a speaker or panelist at one of SSA's career networking events. Encourage registrations for professional development classes.
Host current and prospective students, organize informal alumni networking gatherings, and help publicize SSA and University events in your area.
Be a Class Agent for your reunion
Encourage your classmates to participate in Alumni Weekend festivities and make reunion class gifts. Class Agents are recognized during Alumni Weekend.
Be an Admissions contact for prospective students
Help us recruit the best and the brightest students. Be a spokesperson for SSA's proven approach to graduate social work education. Be a contact for prospective students who have questions about SSA and want to hear about your experience.
Guide our students by providing supervision and instruction as they receive real world practice to complement their classroom experience. Contact us if you would like to offer field placement opportunities to SSA students.
Other ways to get involved:
Make a gift and encourage others to give
Support the SSA Fund and let others know why you support the School. Encourage others to do the same.
Inspire fellow alumni, faculty, and current or prospective students by telling the story of your SSA experience. Share your perspective on the impact SSA has made in your life or in the field of social work.
Keep abreast of SSA and University of Chicago events. Attend and bring fellow alumni and friends to events designed to celebrate, educate, and inspire.
Encourage others to get connected and involved
Strengthen the SSA Alumni Association, your professional network and the value of your degree by staying connected and getting involved in the life of the School.
For more information about ways to stay connected and involved, email alumni@ssa.uchicago.edu or contact Christina D. Cole, Director of Alumni Affairs and the SSA Fund at (773) 702-1431.
