Calumet Park, 95th Street and Lake Michigan

The coal-burning State Line Power Plant sits across from Calumet Park, just one of hundreds of sites that were captured last year by the Resource Mapping Project, a project of the South Side Health and Vitality Study. Coordinated by South Side leaders and University researchers, including SSA Professor Colleen Grogan and Associate Professor Waldo E. Johnson, Jr., the project has plotted community health, education, business and human service resources in six South Side neighborhoods to help local residents and programs better understand how local conditions affect health. The data has already been shared with the MacArthur Foundation, LISC/Chicago and the Chicago Department.
