Jens Ludwig is elected to the National Academy of Science’s Institute of Medicine

Jens Ludwig, McCormick Foundation Professor of Social Service Administration, Law, and Public Policy, and director, University of Chicago Crime Lab, was elected to the prestigious National Academy of Science’s Institute of Medicine for research on social determinants of health. He is one of 70 new members and 10 foreign associates elected to the prestigious organization in 2012. He is the 14th member of the UChicago faculty to be elected to the group since 1978 and the second faculty member outside of the medical field to be appointed. He is the only faculty from a school of social work elected to the IOM.
