Why did you choose SSA?  Why is SSA a good fit for you?

I chose SSA due to the location in Hyde Park, and its reputation. SSA is a good fit because it offers a variety of classes that fit my interests.

How did you become interested in the field of social work?  How did you decide you wanted to dedicate your career to social work?

My caring personality and interest in other people led me to social work. I decided to dedicate my career to social work due to my interests.

What is your favorite class?  Why?

My favorite class was Couple's Therapy, due to the interesting content and adjunct faculty member Don Catherall.

What teacher or mentor at SSA stands out in your mind?  How did that person add to your experience at SSA?

Gina Samuels. She was the first female professor of color I had.

What have you enjoyed most about your experience at SSA?

I enjoy the homely feel of SSA and the friendships I have made.

Where is your field placement?

My field placement is at Ingalls Hospital in the psychiatry department.

What do you enjoy most about your field placement?

I enjoy the clinical experience I am getting through working in groups and with the therapists.

How have your perceptions of the field of social work changed since you came to SSA?

I have become more passionate and dedicated to the field.

What impact do you think SSA students completing their fieldwork have on the Chicago area?

SSA students give great knowledge and dedication.

What are your plans after you graduate? How has your degree from SSA influenced these plans?

I plan to become a licensed social worker.
