Strategic planning and business development are essential to the sustainability of non-profit organizations. Developing a business development and marketing plan outlines the specific initiatives that allow the organization to offer services and programs that meet the needs of their targeted market in dynamic environments.

This workshop will provide a framework and system for identifying target markets, conducting market research, developing programs and services, developing a brand, establishing distinctive competencies, developing outreach plans to clients and funders, and managing for future organizational sustainability.

Workshop participants will have an opportunity to share specific challenges and opportunities from their respective organizations in discussion groups. The workshop will include examples from the workshop facilitator’s consulting practice with non-profit organizations.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Janice Pyrcehas an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, and an M.A. in Social Work from the University of Chicago. Jan has a range of planning, consulting, marketing, operational, and management/organizational development experience, including the 1990 launch of Pyrce Healthcare Group. Jan’s previous experience includes being a Vice President for a Hospital Corporation of America subsidiary, responsible for planning, marketing, physician recruitment, and physician practice development at 53 hospitals located in 19 states, with over $500 million in annual revenues. Jan has taught for twenty years at the University of Chicago, Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy and Practice and is a Lecturer in their Professional Development Program focusing on Strategic Management.
