The University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration (SSA) is one of the preeminent schools of social work and social welfare in the United States and the world. SSA generates a large share of the nation’s intellectual and professional leadership across the broad field of social welfare. For more than 100 years, SSA has been preparing professionals to tackle some of the toughest and most vexing social problems.

SSA continues to have a sustained impact in the city of Chicago and beyond, with alums holding numerous leadership positions, particularly in the nonprofit and governmental sectors, both locally and nationally. SSA has standing relationships with more than 700 agencies and programs throughout the Chicago metropolitan area, many of which serve as educational partners for students in mentored field placements. Each year SSA students provide more than 225,000 hours of service to help the most vulnerable citizens of Chicago.

The great work of our SSA students, alumni, and faculty continues to receive increased recognition around the nation and globe. Your generosity allows SSA to have a critical role in defining social welfare problems and shaping solutions, engaging with those in greatest need, and developing knowledge that can be put into real-world action.

Your gift to SSA may be used to support:

  • Researching improvements and preventions
  • Scholarships
  • Recruitment of leading researchers
  • Student field work and education

Or, you may direct your gift to an SSA initiative of your choosing.
