"Hidden Figures of SSA: Honoring Our Trailblazers and Inspiring Our Future" was held on March 30, 2017 in the lobby of SSA. The community celebrated and honored the addition of four leaders from the SSA community who have made an enduring commitment to advancing the field of social work and social justice to foster more inclusive, equitable, and diverse communities: Inabel Burns Lindsay, AM ’37, Esther Nieves, AM ’87, Dolores Norton, and Charles Payne. Journalist and educator Sylvia Ewing moderated a panel discussion of people in the field who have been influenced by each of the honorees. Banners of the honorees were hung in the SSA lobby alongside those featuring early Deans, faculty, and key leaders instrumental in the development of SSA and the field of social work.
