All full-time School of Social Service Administration Master's and Doctoral students get a Chicago Public Transit Authority (CTA) U-Pass. Dual degree students are eligible for the U-Pass during each quarter in which they are full-time and SSA is their primary school (this means that they are taking at least two of their three courses at SSA). Due to CTA guidelines, part-time students are currently ineligible for the U-Pass program.

The U-Pass program allows cardholders to enjoy unlimited rides on CTA trains and buses during the academic year. The dates of activation for the 2017-18 academic year are:

Autumn Quarter:  September 20, 2017 – December 9, 2018
Winter Quarter:  December 29, 2017 – March 21, 2018
Spring Quarter:  March 21, 2018 – June 9, 2018

Students cannot use the U-Pass during the summer as SSA does not have a summer contract with Ventra and students are not typically enrolled in the summer.

Students will be assessed a $100/quarter fee for U-Pass privileges. If a student has leftover transit value on their U-Pass between school sessions the transit value will roll over. The value will not be affected regardless of student status or quarter.
