Detention of Asylum Seekers in South Texas: Causes, Effects, and Responses on the Ground

On May 31, 2017, students from SSA presented on family detention at the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, Texas. They discussed how harsh U.S. immigration policies and tactics undermine due process and access to asylum for women and children fleeing violence around the world–resulting in the detention and deportation of thousands who qualify for protection.
