From its inception over 100 years ago, SSA’s purpose has been developing the ideas, techniques and human talent necessary to improve the lives of individuals and communities. Our funding priorities reflect that purpose:

Students. Your support of financial aid and scholarships allows SSA to continue to attract the most talented, motivated students: students who will have the greatest impact on the shape of the profession and the lives of those the profession serves. Fifty-five cents of every dollar contributed to the SSA Fund helps to support the 9 out of 10 SSA students who receive some sort of financial aid.

Faculty & Research. We want to equip our students and their peers throughout the field with the best, most empirically sound and forward thinking insights into the human condition and the practice techniques necessary to improve it. Your support of faculty and research ensures we can continue to attract the best minds in the field and provide them with the resources they need to do their best, most effective teaching and scholarship. Fourty-five cents of every dollar contributed to the SSA Fund supports faculty research and collaborations with social and human service agencies.

Field Education. Field Education is the lynchpin of the SSA educational experience. It’s where our students learn to apply the theories and techniques they learn in the classroom and develop the ideas for their own scholarly inquiry. Via the direct service our students provide clients and agencies throughout Chicago and around the world, field education is also the way SSA most directly influences the lives of individuals and communities. Through your support, you share in that influence.

Please support SSA today.
