The strength of an SSA education is integration. To be an effective clinical social worker, you must have a clear vision of the interconnectedness of individuals, communities and agencies. To be an effective social services administrator, policy maker or community organizer, you need to understand how policy and politics translates into meaningful change on the ground. In all of our academic programs—masters, doctoral and professional development—you will receive a broad intellectual foundation in the social sciences combined with practical knowledge and field experience to improve people’s lives through smart, compassionate service.

Academic Programs

The rigor and quality of an SSA education has earned us a spot among the top three graduate schools of social work in the nation.

  • The Master’s Program: offers a uniquely challenging, professionally flexible degree that lets you concentrate in either clinical social work or social work administration. The full-time program is a two-year program. There are several enrollment options from which to choose:
    • the full-time program
    • the part-time program
    • the 15-month accelerated program
    • the extended evening program
    • dual degree programs
    • the AB/AM program
  • The Doctoral Program: lets you gain a deeper mastery of both social science theory and research methods under the guidance of a faculty mentor.
  • Professional Development Program: keeps your skills and licensure up to date through lectures and workshops with the field’s leading scholars and practitioners.

Career Services

SSA is one of the few graduate schools of social work with its own Office of Career Services, and we encourage you to think of career preparation as an integral part of our rigorous curriculum. We will work with you from day one to match your education, experience, and aspirations with rewarding work in a growing number of fields.
