Dr. Deborah Prothrow-Stith, M.D., Consultant delivers the Social Justice Address, "Preventing Youth Violence: A Public Health Mandate," on Friday, October 14, 2014 at the Social Justice Address and Ceremony conferring alumni their academic hoods at the International House Assembley Hall.
A pioneer and innovator, Dr. Deborah Prothrow-Stith is among the nation’s preeminent leaders in defining, researching, and treating violence. As a physician working in inner-city Boston, she broke new ground with her efforts to have youth violence defined as a public health crisis rather than as a criminal justice issue. She formerly served as the Commissioner of Public Health for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
