Strides for Peace: Reducing Gun Violence in Chicago
8K Run, 5K Run, 2 Mile Walk and Tots for Peace Sprint
Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 7pm
Upper Hutchinson Field, Grant Park, Chicago
SSA's Chicago Center for Youth Violence Prevention and Bright Star Community Outreach are sponsors for this 8K, 5K, 2 Mile Walk, and Tots for Peace Sprint!
This Race for Peace is the rallying point to raise funds, friends, and awareness about what is being done to reduce gun violence and build a strong future for Chicago’s youth. It is an evening to celebrate and support the life-changing work of Strides for Peace’s Community Partners and Affiliates and provide a platform for people who care about reducing gun violence in Chicago to connect and get involved. 100% of all proceeds raised go back to the community!
Join our team! SSA’s Chicago Center for Youth Violence Prevention (directed by Professor Deborah Gorman-Smith) has organized a team for the race that includes families and youth from the Greater Bronzeville community. We are running to support our partner in Bronzeville, Bright Star Community Outreach (BSCO) to fund summer prevention programming for youth. Join our team and raise funds for BSCO or any of the Community Partners and Affiliates – many with strong ties to SSA. To register, go to: https://www.stridesforpeace.org/race/ Register, select “team”, type SSA Chicago Center for Youth Violence Prevention, select 5K, 8K or 2K walk, and follow the directions. Once registered, you can create a crowd rise page to share with others to support your run!
