The People's Republic of China has declared their plans to educate and professionally train 1.45 million new social workers by 2020.

The University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration is partnering with Peking University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University to launch a new collaborative exchange program that will promote the development of a rigorous social work profession and infrastructure, tackling the most challenging social issues in the PRC.

This event will launch this new collaborative program, which will feature cross-national and cross-university conversations among faculty and students addressing the most pressing social welfare challenges in China. This new tripartite partnership will establish an international platform to build rigorous education and research in social welfare and social policy in Mainland China.

This collaboration is funded, in part, by a generous lead gift from Professor Anna Pao Sohmen and Sue Peng and Xiaotian Zhang.

If you have any questions, please call Cristina Gros at 1.773.702.7107 at the University of Chicago SSA.
