Sickcare vs. Healthcare: Envisioning a Healthy Chicago was a conference on the state of healthcare and the role of social determinants of health in the city of Chicago. We welcomed speakers and panelists including distinguished leaders in government, medicine, and nonprofit organizations to discuss the following topics: Community Health, Healthcare and Government, HIV/AIDS, Violence and Health, and Universal Healthcare. Our keynote speaker was Dr. Jay Bhatt, Managing Deputy Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Public Health. Presenters included Professor Harold Pollack. This was a chance to hear a broad range of perspectives on Chicago’s most pressing health issues as well as connect with leaders in the health community. Undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, staff, and community members were welcome to attend.

This event was co-sponsored by: UChicago Careers in Health Professions, Student Government, Urban Network, and SSA’s Graduate Program in Health Administration and Policy (GPHAP).
