Community Mental Health Care for Young Black Women

Within the mental health field, there has been slow movement to adequately address the mental health needs of young adult (ages of 18-35) Black women.Young Black adults experience some of the highest rates of mental illness and Black people are 20% more likely to report psychological distress in comparison to their White counterparts. 

 

Community Mental Health Care for Young Black Womenprovidesinsight into the unique clinical and institutional issues that impact Black women in young adulthood within a community context. Workshop participants will walk away with a greater understanding of community mental health approaches and how to engage young adult Black women through a variety of prevention and intervention strategies.
